Yukon polo is a contact sport, here are some suggestions
Boat vs. boat contact- Watch endangerment of players.
Hand vs. Boat & Paddle contactHow we Play [The Rules]Referees- We like to use the honour system. Please call your own foul, if not your peers will. Fouls - If you are called you may just be overenthusiastic, don't be hurt. Traveling, improper tackling, holding, plowing the goalie, vicious play. Basically not embracing the Spirit of the Game. A foul is called and play is stopped. The ball goes back to the offended player and play restarts. Start of play- Six players a side- opposing teams on opposite sides, against the wall. The ball is thrown into the middle and each team paddles like mad to get it. Scoring- Ball in the opponents net. If you put the ball in your own net it counts for the other side, your team may keep the ball away from you and you might have to buy beer afterwards. Subs- Please do not forget to substitute Dribbling- this can be done either by moving the ball along down the pool with your paddle or by throwing it and catching it up. No traveling please. Ball Hogs- Don't hang on to it for more than five seconds. Pass the ball, play as a team. Starting after a goal is scored- The team that scored must let the opposing side bring the ball up to the centerline unimpeded. Once the ball crosses the centerline you may attack. Have a great time, play hard but don't hurt each other. Thanks for playing, any questions call or mail us. Chip and the organizing team. |
